Community Garden

Community GardenThe Newburgh Armory Unity Center Community Garden is located at our facilities at 321 S. William Street in Newburgh, NY. We currently have 60 garden beds in various sizes.

The Garden is a nonprofit garden that serves a diverse community connecting people to nature and locally grown food. We have partnered with Cornell Cooperative Extension of Orange County to assist in establishing the garden and to provide garden assistance and education for gardeners via the Master Gardener Program. Our volunteers help provide hands-on education for children and adults to learn gardening, healthy eating, and caring for nature.

While our primary focus is preschool through sixth grade, we are committed to hands-on education for all. Harvests are shared within the Newburgh Armory Unity Center, and then the general public whenever possible.

In 2020, we donated over 5,000 pounds of organically grown produce to the community.

Our bed rentals are from April through November. Please email Lisa Rittweger at lrittweger@newburgharmory.org or call us at 845-245-4035 for availability or to volunteer. Follow us on Facebook or Instagram at Newburgh Armory Community Garden.
